Alpha Rhythm: what does alpha state mean? Silva

Howlearn to meditate a newcomer at home

In various meditative disciplines, "meditation" has a more specific meaning, which determines a special state of mind. In some disciplines, the attainment of this state, purifying the brain of all conscious thoughts, is the goal in itself. The meditative state, as proved by countless studies, leads to a pleasant soothing and further to relief, which prevents diseases caused by nervous tension.

But this is passive meditation .The doctrine of mind control goes further. Thanks to it, students are trained to use this state of the brain to solve problems, both small and unpleasant, and large and painful. This is dynamic meditation , its capabilities are actually very effective.

Silva Method

Since 1966, when the Silva Method was first introduced to a group of students in Texas, it took a long time, and the organization involved in the introduction and popularization of this method has grown considerably. She went from a single group of enthusiasts with one instructor to a worldwide system with centers and offices in all the major cities of the United States and offices in seventy-five countries - from Japan to Israel, from Saudi Arabia to Ireland, from China to Zimbabwe, from Australia to Alaska. Millions of people of various social and age groups listen to the Silva course, which they are represented by 450 certified instructors in eighteen languages.

What is the philosophy of positive thinking that distinguishes this method from the rest? What is the result of a phenomenal improvement? What in the Silva method attracts people of different races, creeds, social groups and professions?

People who have been trained in this method show that their beliefs have become even more peaceful than they were before the training. Silva's method mobilizes all the good and positive that there is in people: they acquire a special taste for life, they improve their relationships with others and health, they understand themselves better and others, they have the confidence that they can not only feel responsible for what is happening, but also feel the power and ability to control and change their lives.

Alpha rhythm of the brain

Nowadays, we hear more and more of the alpha rhythms of the brain.

Alfa-rhythmodyne from the types of brain wave radiation, some, the kind of electrical energy produced by the brain, which can be measured with an electroencephalograph( EEG).The radiation rhythms of this energy are measured in cycles per second( c / s).Usually, radiation with a rhythm of 14 c / s and higher is called beta waves, radiation with a rhythm of 7-14 c / salfa waves, 4-7 theta waves, from four or lower delta waves.

When you are awake, working and striving for something in the everyday world, you are in a beta state or "external consciousness" in the terminology of the doctrine of mind control. When you doze off or fall asleep, but have not yet fallen asleep, or wake up, but have not yet shaken off the remnants of sleep, you are able to alpha. Followers of mind control call this state "inner consciousness".In a dream, you are in the states of alpha, theta or delta, and not exclusively in alpha, as many believe. After courses on mind management, you can enter the alpha state arbitrarily and at the same time remain in a wakeful state.

Perhaps you are wondering what kind of sensations arise when the brain is in this or that state.

Being in a beta state, or full wakefulness, does not cause any specific feeling. You can feel confident or afraid, work or laze, be carried away or tired - the possibilities of beta state are unlimited.

At deeper levels of the brain, the possibilities of sensation for most people are limited. Life has taught them to function in beta, not alpha or theta. At these deeper levels, people are limited to states of drowsiness, falling asleep( going to sleep) or actually sleeping. But after training in courses on mind management, the useful capabilities of the brain begin to multiply to infinity. Here is what Harry McKnight, the associate director of the Silva mind management courses, once wrote;"Alpha-state has a full set of opportunities for feeling, as well as beta."In other words, in the alpha state we can perform other actions than in beta.

This is the key concept in the doctrine of mind management. When you become acquainted with these possibilities of feeling in alpha and learn to use them, you will use your brain in a greater degree and in a special way. You can almost at all times manage yourself on a mental level, as if discovering a source of higher wisdom.

Most people choose a method of mind control in order to relax, end insomnia, find relief from headaches or learn, it is more easy to do what requires a lot of strong-willed efforts, for example, quit smoking, lose weight, improve memory, learn more effectively. Most of them come to the courses, but they learn and learn more, much more.

Students learn that the five kinds of sensations are tactile, tasteful, olfactory, auditory and visual, only part of the sensory abilities with which they were born. There are others, call them abilities or sensual opportunities, previously known only to particularly gifted units or mystics who developed them within themselves throughout their lives, moving away from the worldly vanity. The mission of the method of controlling the mind is to awaken these abilities to us in life.

What importance these abilities can have, one of the editors of the magazine for women "Mademoiselle" Nadine Bertin in a March issue for 1972 has well defined:

"A culture based on medications can have tablets, powders or injections that expand the possibilities of the brain. I defend my what it is. The method of mind control expands the capabilities of the brain. He teaches how to extend his abilities. The method is called exceptionally accurate: unlike the use of chemicals and hypnosis, you remain in charge of management. Brain management, self-knowledge and helping others through the method, mind control is limited only by your own limitations. With this method, everything is possible. You have heard that this is obtained from others. And suddenly you see what happens to you. "

How to learn to meditate correctly to beginners at home

Knowledge and scientific research of Jose Silva will help you learn how to meditate yourself at home.

Silva Jose says:

"I want to help you learn to meditate. When you learn this, you can inject the brain into a state that will free up your imagination to solve various problems. But first we will focus only on meditation, we will come to the solution of problems later.

Since you will be learning without an experienced teacher, I use a slightly different and much slower method than the one we use in the training sessions on mind management. So you will not have any problems.

If you learn only meditation and stop at it, you will still solve its problems with it. During meditation, something beautiful happens, and the beauty that you find in it works soothingly. The more you meditate, the deeper you become, the stronger will be your connection with the inner peace, the peace so stable that nothing in life can shake it.

Your body will also benefit from this condition. First you will find that excitement and sinful feelings are absent when you meditate. One of the delights of meditation in the alpha state is that you can not carry away with it any bad feelings and anger. If such feelings invade your condition, then you fly out of meditation, like a cork from a bottle.

Over time, these feelings will continue to stay out of your condition longer until one day they disappear altogether. This will mean that those brain activities that lead to diseases of the body are neutralized. The human body is created to stay in a healthy state. It has built-in healing mechanisms. These mechanisms are often blocked by the brain, not trained to control themselves.

Meditation is the first step to mind management;in itself, it will have to go a very long way to release the healing powers of the body and return to it the energy that was uselessly wasted on stress.

Meditation passive: static for beginners

That's all you need to do to enter the alpha state or the meditative state of mind:

When you wake up in the morning, then go to the bathroom, if necessary, and go back to bed. Get an alarm clock, so he phoned in fifteen minutes, in case you fall asleep during the exercise. Close your eyes and look under the lowered eyelids at an angle of 20 degrees. For not completely understandable reasons, this position of the eye itself includes the transition of the brain to the alpha state.

Now slowly, with an interval of two seconds, start a countdown from one hundred to one. Do this, focus on the account, and you will enter the alpha for the first time.

In the mind-control class, students respond differently to their first experience. You can hear how "It was wonderful?", And "I did not feel anything." The reason for the difference is not in the difference of perception, but primarily in the degree of acquaintance of people with this state of the brain. It is more or less familiar to everyone. When we wake up in the morning, we often stay in the alpha state for a while. To go from the theta state, that is, the level of sleep, to the beta state, that is, to the level of wakefulness, we must go through the alpha state and, it happens, we stay in it for a while before getting up and the usual morning routines.

If you feel that nothing happened during the first experiment, it simply means that you have been to the alpha many times before without even guessing about it. Relax, do not ask questions and continue to practice.

Although you will enter the alpha state the first time you try to focus, you still need seven weeks of practice to descend to deeper levels of alpha, and then theta. For ten days in the morning, use the method of counting from one hundred to one. Then every next 10 days count from 50 to one, from 25 to one, from ten to one and, finally, from five to one.

Starting from the very first occurrence in the alpha state, use only one way to exit it. This will give you a greater degree of control against involuntary withdrawal.

The method that we use in mind control courses is to mentally say: "When I count to five, I will slowly leave my state, feeling fully conscious and better than before. One, two, ready to open my eyes, three, open my eyes, four, five, my eyes are open, full of consciousness, I feel better than before. "

Thus, you will develop two stable sequences: one to enter the required state, the other to exit from it. If you change the sequence, then you have to master from scratch your new version the same way you learned to use the first one. It's a useless job.

Once you learn to reach your alpha state with a five to one countdown method in the morning, you are ready to enter it at any time at will. All that is required for this, 10-15 free minutes. But, since you will enter your state from beta, and not from an easy alpha state, you need a little extra training.

Sit on a comfortable chair or bed, putting your feet on the floor. Let the hands lie relaxed on your lap. If you want, you can sit cross-legged in a lotus position. Keep your head straight and steady, do not tilt it. Now concentrate first on one part of the body, then on the other, to consciously cause their relaxation. Start with the left foot, then the entire leg, then the right foot and so on until you consistently reach the neck, face, eyes and finally the scalp. The first time you do this, you will be surprised at how tense your body is.

Now determine the point, about 45 degrees above your horizon, on the ceiling or opposite wall. Peer to the point until your eyelids become slightly heavy, and then let them sink. Begin counting from 50 to one. Do the exercise for ten days, then 10 days with a score of ten to one and 10 more with a score of five to one. Since now you are not limited to the morning time for practicing this practice, take the rule to meditate two or three times a day for 15 minutes.

When you reach your state, what do you do next? What to think about?

From the very beginning, from the very first moments of achieving a meditative level, practice visualization - creating visual images. This is the central point of the mind control method. The more you learn to call visual images in your mind, the more powerful the method will be for you.

Imaginary screen

First of all, create a visualization tool - an imaginary screen. It should look like a big movie screen, but do not completely cover the field of your mental vision. Imagine it not immediately behind the surface of the eyelids, but approximately six feet( about 180 cm) in front of you. On this screen you will project an image of what you want to concentrate on. Later he will find another application.

Once you have installed a screen in your mind, project something simple and familiar on it, for example, an orange or an apple. Every time you enter a state of meditation, stay with one way, you will be able to change it the next time. Focus on making the visual image the most real, three-dimensional, full-color, with all the details. Do not think about anything else.

Once there was a comparison of the mind with a drunken monkey: like a monkey, it rushes from side to side, grabbing something for one Item, then for another. It's amazing how weak we can manage our brains, despite the fact that sometimes it serves us a good service. However, from time to time he acts treacherously behind our backs, causing a headache, a nervous rash or, worse, a stomach ulcer. Our brain is a very powerful weapon, too powerful to leave it unattended. As soon as we learn how to use our brain, we train it, it will do amazing things for us, as we will see later.

In the meantime, have patience and do the simplest exercises. Using the power of the mind, teach the brain to safely enter the alpha state and create the simplest visual images more and more thoroughly. At first, when alien thoughts invade, be mildly indulgent. Slowly push them away and return to the single image. If you become irritated or tense, you will immediately exit the alpha state.

Thus, this is meditation in the form in which it is widely practiced throughout the world. If you practice this form alone and nothing more, you will experience what William Ubardsworth called "the happy immobility of the mind," and even more the deep and lasting state of the inner world. This state will cause exciting feelings when you penetrate deeper states, but eventually you will get used to them, and the excitement will subside. Once such feelings pass, many people stop meditating. But they forget that this is not a "journey for the sake of travel", but only the first step on the road to the most important journey that you will be able to accomplish in your life.

Meditation dynamic: advanced level

The states of passive meditation that you just read( and, I hope, experienced) can be achieved in other ways. Instead of focusing on the visual image, you can concentrate on sound, such as "once", "march!" Or "amen," spoken aloud or mentally, or even on the sensation of your breathing. You can focus on the energy point, on your body, on the drum rhythm and dance, you can listen to the sonorous church choir and watch the passage of a familiar religious ritual. All these methods or their combinations will take you to a calm meditative level of consciousness.

I prefer to recommend a countdown, since it, first of all, requires some concentration, and concentration is the key to success. When you can achieve a meditative state several times using this method, it will be associated in your brain with a successful result, and the process will become automatic.

Every successful result in the method of mind control becomes, as we say, a "reference point", consciously or unconsciously, we return to our experience, repeat it and go from it further.

When we enter a meditative state, then just being in it and waiting for something to happen is not enough. This condition is really fine, produces a calming effect and has a beneficial effect on your health, but is too small an achievement in comparison with what is possible. Go beyond passive meditation, accustom your brain to organized, dynamic activity, I am convinced that it was created for this, and the results will amaze you.

I emphasize this provision because it is for us the moment when you should move from the passive meditative technique that you just read to dynamic meditation to solve the problems that we face. Now you will understand why simple visualization exercises on a mental apple screen or what you prefer are of great importance.

Now, before entering into a meditative state, think about something pleasant, even very trivial, about what happened yesterday or today. Restore this incident briefly in your mind, and then go into the state of meditation and project the entire incident on the mental screen. How did it all look, what were the smells, sounds and feelings at that time? Remember all the details. And you'll be surprised at the difference in memories in the beta state and how the incident in the alpha state was recalled. The difference is so great as the word "swim" differs from the very process of swimming.

What is the value of this practice? First of all, it is a step to something bigger, and secondly, it is useful in itself. You can use it as follows.

Think about some thing you own, not lost, but the search for which will take some time. About the keys from your car, for example. Do they lie on the office, in your pocket or in the car? If you are not sure of their whereabouts, then remember when you last held them in your hands, and relive these moments again. Then move forward in time, and you will find the keys, as if you did not part with them.(If the keys to the car were taken by someone else, then you will face a task that requires a more sophisticated meditative technique to solve.)

Imagine a student who remembers that the teacher spoke about the exam on Wednesday. But maybe he meant Wednesday next week? This problem, he easily decides in the alpha state.

All these typical small everyday problems are easily solved with the help of the simplest meditative technique.

Wishful to translate into reality!

Now get ready for the giant roll forward. We are going to connect the real event with the desired, which you only imagine to yourself, and see what happens to what we imagined. If you follow a few simple laws, then an imaginary event will come to life.

  1. The law. You have to wish that the plans come true."The first person I see tomorrow on the street will blow my nose" - such a desire is so pointless that your brain will turn away from doing it, just will not do it. But to make your boss more compliant, the client is more supportive of what you sell, find more satisfaction in what you are doing - these are the goals that you can reasonably desire.
  2. The Act. You must believe that the planned will be accomplished. If you overload your client with what you sell, he is unlikely to arise, the desire to purchase something else. If you can not believe that what you want can happen, your brain will also work against it.
  3. The law. You should expect that the plan will take place. In this law there is a certain cunning. The first two laws are simple and passive, the third implies some dynamics. It is possible to wish and believe in what has been conceived, but still not expect it to come true. You may want your boss to be in good spirits, you know that this can be, and yet not wait for it. It is here that mind control and effective visualization come to the fore, which we will soon see.
  4. The law. You can not create a problem yourself. Not in the sense of permission, but in terms of practical possibilities. This is the main and key law."It would be great if my boss posed as a complete donkey, he was fired, and I was appointed to his post!" When you are dynamically working in the alpha state, how would you come in contact with the Higher Mind, and from his point of view itit would not be great at all. Of course, you can set up a trap for the boss, he will be fired, but you will remain alone and in a beta state. Alpha just will not work.

If, while in the meditation stage, you try to tune in to some external mind, counting on his help in evil deeds, then your efforts will be as vain as trying to tune the radio to a non-existent radio station.

Many accuse me of being over-pressured by this statement. Many laughed condescendingly when I argued that it is absolutely impossible to do evil in the state of alpha, but did not believe until the dock proved themselves. There is enough evil on our planet, and we, people, have put a lot of effort into it. That's only going on in the beta state, but not in alpha, theta and, probably, not in delta states. My research has proved this fact.

I never recommended wasting time, but if you need proof, then enter the alfa state and try to get someone to have a headache. If you can clearly imagine this event, which is difficult to do at all, then you will achieve two results simultaneously or separately: you, and not your victim, will get a headache, and, in addition, you will exit the alpha state.

This, of course, does not answer all the questions that may arise regarding the brain's potential to do evil or good. Later we will have something to say about this. At the moment, choose the situation that you would like to solve the problem, the result you would like and believe that you can achieve, and with the help of the following exercise you will learn to expect.

Here's how.

Solving the problem: how to solve problems and achieve the goal

Choose the real problem facing you, one that has not resolved itself. As an illustration, suppose that your boss is in a bad mood recently. To solve the problem, it is necessary to go through three stages in the alpha state.

  1. Stage. On the mental screen, carefully restore the event that led to this problem. Live the situation for a short time.
  2. Stage. Gently push the picture to the right. Imagine a picture on the screen that will happen tomorrow. In the second situation, all the surrounding bosses are vigorous and energetic people, and he gets good news. Now his mood is improving noticeably. If you know exactly the cause of the problem, then visualize its possible resolution. Imagine a solution as bright as the problem itself.
  3. Stage. Now, slide this picture to the right and replace it with a new one that extends to the left. Now the boss is simply happy and polite, as far as he can be at all. Try to picture the picture as if it were actually happening. Stay with the picture for a while, feel it.

Now on account of "five" you have completely restored consciousness and feel better than before. Be sure that you have just launched certain forces into the life of the desired event.

Will this work always, with inevitability, without failures?

No.

However, here's what will happen if you stick to this practice. For example, the first session of meditation, aimed at solving a problem, will work. But who will say that this is not a mere coincidence? In the end, the event you desired was quite plausible, and you could believe that it was being realized. Then another meditation session will work and the third one."Coincidence" will begin to multiply. Leave the method of mind control, and such coincidences will be much less. Use it again, and the number of matches will increase again.

Further, as you progressively accumulate experience, you will note that you believe and expect that events will occur less and less likely. With time and with practice, the results you will achieve will become even more impressive.

Starting to work on solving each problem, re-experience the best of your last experiences in the imagination. When an even more successful experience happens, drop the old one and use the best as the starting point. Thus, you will become "all the better and better" if you apply an expression with a particularly deep meaning to everyone who manages the mind.

Tim Master, a college student who in his spare time works as a taxi driver in Fort Lee in New Jersey, fills the time between trips with meditation. When his business is not brilliant, he puts on his mental screen a possible solution to the problem of a man with suitcases, who urgently needs to get to Kennedy airport."I tried to imagine this several times. .. and without success. And then suddenly the desired thing happened - a man with suitcases appeared at Kennedy airport. The next time I placed it on my screen, I had a feeling that this should work. And there was another one right up to Kennedy. The method worked! It's like an inexhaustible golden vein! "

Before moving on to other exercises and techniques, let me dwell on what probably caused your perplexity: why do we move the pictures from left to right on our mental screen? I will only briefly address this issue now, since later we will still need to dwell on it in detail.

My experiments showed that on deeper levels of consciousness we perceive the flow of time as propagating from left to right. In other words, the future is perceived by us as being on the left, and the past on the right. It would be very tempting to embark on a lengthy explanation of this phenomenon, but now other things are waiting for us. "
