Stimulation of 5HT1 receptors results in selective narrowing of the vessels in the carotid artery system and reduction processes of neurogenic inflammation, without significantly affecting cerebral blood flow. In addition, it has been experimentally established that sumatriptan inhibits the activity of the trigeminal nerve.

Indications for use

According to the instructions to Amigrenin, this drug is indicated for use in two cases:

  • With the purpose of arresting painful sensations in acute migraine attacks, as well as eliminating their symptoms (with migraine with aura and without);

Contraindications

In the instructions for use it is indicated that the standard dosage of Amigrenin is 50 mg. If the dosage is insufficient and, consequently, the effect is weak, the dosage is increased to 100 mg. The maximum dosage of sumatriptan daily is 300 mg.
